Scientists test beached shark carcass

Scientists are to DNA test a shark to try to solve the mystery of a rise in the number of beached animals on the Scottish coastline. The 12ft basking shark was discovered washed up in Bayhead on North Uist on Monday. Marine biologists are hoping a post mortem and DNA test on the fish will provide vital information about Scotland’s shark population.
