Vessels and Demonstrations Programme

Having the exhibition site at ExCeL immediately adjacent to useable waterspace, offers exhibitors a rare opportunity to demonstrate their latest ideas and equipments in a realistic environment.

The Royal Docks, up to 12 metres deep of brackish water, make an excellent venue for live demonstrations with equipment installed on small boats, or for demonstrating equipment from the dockside in the water. In addition, with the deep water berth immediately outside the hall, the exhibition is able to host larger survey vessels which companies may wish to have present for marketing opportunities.

Vessels confirmed so far include:

  • 60 metre French Navy survey vessel BORDA
  • 27 metre BIBBY TETHRA
  • the old Baltic trader KOMMANDEREN, representing Hays Shipping
  • 25 metre swath hull survey vessel from MacArtney A/S
  • 18 metre offshore survey vessel from Briggs Marine
  • Several smaller 8-10 metre survey boats used for dynamic underway equipment demonstrations presented by Kongsberg, Sonardyne, RESON, Port of Rotterdam, IFREMER

For companies wishing to demonstrate their latest navigation, underwater survey or sonar equipment, they can either provide or charter a vessel, or seek advise from the organisers on how to achieve this.

Demonstrations tend to last for about 30 minutes, and are based on a round trip of the Royal Victoria Dock , taking in the many varied features on the dock bottom and in the neighbouring Pontoon Dock.   UUV`s have become a recent addition to the demonstration programme, although the visibility in the water is extremely low, and apart from demonstrating performance of the vehicle, it is advisable to be able to present some means of product presentation.

The charges for undertaking demonstrations are £500; costs for bringing a vessel to the exhibition depend on size of vessel, and any requirements for pilotage and  logistic support . Exhibitors who wish to take advantage of the use of the water in any way should contact our Marine Operations Advisor, Captain Stephen Taylor, who can discuss with you the best way to present your equipment or service.  DANDSTAYL@aol.com  or +441730 821661
