Andy Hill
Biography
Andy Hill has spent his entire career working in geophysical site investigation, for the last 21 years he has worked with BP around the world. Prior to joining BP he worked with a site investigation contractor in Europe in geophysical acquisition, data processing and interpretation.
As an industry leader in the field of site investigation, he has been author, or co-author, of a number of industry and regulatory guideline documents in geophysical site investigation rationale, and has been an instigator of some of the major technology advances in the field.
In 1997 he started BP’s pursuit of AUV technology, initially to support deepwater site investigation. For these efforts the team he led was awarded a BP Innovation Award in 2000.
From 2003 to 2007 he was based in Baku as BP’s Survey Manager responsible for positioning, hydrography and geophysical site investigation support of BP’s major projects in Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian Sea.
Based now in Houston, Andy is BP’s Global Technical Authority for Marine Geohazards characterization and a Technical Advisor to the BP Upstream business. He is a key member of the BP’s global leadership team for Survey and Site Investigation staffing community. As such he has a broad technical role in ensuring application of best practice and take up of new technology by BP around the world in the realms of hydrography and site investigation geophysics.
