Vessels 2010
Freedom

The “Freedom” is a brand new survey vessel build by “No Limit Ships” in the Netherlands. The vessel is specially designed for hydrographic survey work in coastal (shallow) waters.

Freedom

The vessel is equipped with multibeam and singlebeam echosounders, RTK positioning and silt-density equipment. The combination of high sailing speed and stability from the deep-V ships hull enables this vessel of surveying in coastal dredging and constructions area’s also in worse weather conditions.

At this moment the “Freedom” is surveying for the Rotterdam port landreclamation project “Maasvlakte 2” and for maintenance dredging works inside the Port of Rotterdam.

To visit the vessel, please call at stand No I 100.

FlatHolm

MV FlatHolm is a UK flagged multidiscipline coastal survey and research vessel available for geotechnical, geophysical and hydrographic surveys of UK waters up to 60m offshore.

Owners Coastline Surveys Ltd of Falmouth and Lowestoft undertake seabed geotechnics including CPT, vibrocore and grab, environmental surveys including oceanography and benthic sampling and geophysical surveys including seismic profiling, sidescan sonar and multibeam/swath bathymetry etc.

Permanently equipped with a variety of winches and lifting facilities up to 6.5t, most marine studies can be accommodated.

   Flatholm

Also undertakes observational programmes such as seabird and marine mammal studies (COWRIE compliant).

Continually modified and upgraded MV FlatHolm has an extensive and repeat Client base.

Visitors: Book in at Stand No H700

Seabeam
The survey vessel SeaBeam, length 16 meter, is specialized in high-resolution hydrographical mapping in water depth between 3 and 150 meters. At the Oi10 exhibition we offer demonstrations at sea to display new technology.

Visitors can book in to see demonstrations at Stand No J 350

Seabeam
Yantlet

Reson are pleased to use PLA’s vessel, the MV Yantlet, to demonstrate a variety of their Bathymetric and Imaging high-resolution SeaBat Multibeam Echosounders in conjunction with their PDS2000 Data Acquisition and Processing software.

Visitors can book tours at the Reson Stand (G100) or by contacting Michael Giese (michael.giese@reson.com) prior to the event.

Yantlet

Wessex Explorer

A familiar sight at Oceanology International, the Wessex Explorer is ideally suited to demonstrations of the latest underwater technology systems. Inside the cabin, monitors clearly show the top end software whilst easy access to the aft deck and topsides enables viewing of the systems being deployed.  The vessel will be alongside ExCel for the duration of OI and will operate demonstrations for both SEA and CodaOctopus to a full daily schedule.

Wessex Explorer

SEA will demonstrate the SWATHplus interferometric sonar system for acquiring co-registered, very wide swath, high-resolution bathymetry and seafloor imagery.  SWATHplus offers a cost-effective system with excellent productivity in shallow water together with reliable accuracy.

The unique 3D real-time sonar technology of the Echoscope will be demonstrated by CodaOctopus, along with precision attitude and positioning from the Octopus F180. The sessions will illustrate how the Echoscope’s high definition 3-dimensional sonar images have already resulted in increased productivity in real-time applications such as underwater construction, harbour security, dredging and strategic asset inspection.

Both company’s sessions will last approximately 30 minutes and demo places can be booked in advance:

For SEA advance bookings e-mail victoria.welham@sea.co.uk

For Coda Octopus advance bookings e-mail karine.buckwell@codaoctopus.com

Time open: 0930 – 1700
Visitors: demo places can be booked at the exhibitors’ stands (subject to availability).

SEA stand D400,  Coda Octopus stand G200.

Display/Demonstrations:  Underway

HMS Cattistock

HMS Cattistock   Constructed entirely of GRP and other low-magnetic materials, HMS CATTISTOCK is one of the most advanced mine hunters in the world. Equipped with state-of-the-art Sonar 2050, CATTISTOCK can detect small mine-sized objects over 1000m from her, down to depths in excess of 100m. She is able to verify or destroy these mines with her 2 Remote Control SEA FOX Mine Disposal Vehicles, or with her embarked Clearance Diving Team.

As with all the Royal Navy’s MCM units, CATISTOCK frequently exercises her mine-hunting capability with Route Survey operations. These ensure that the entrance channels to principal UK ports are regularly scanned for mine-like objects, and also assist safety of navigation.

CATISTOCK is truly multi-role. With her 30mm cannon, 7-barrelled Mini Guns, and useful sensor fit, she is able to act as an Offshore Patrol Vessel and chokepoint defence platform. She is also able to conduct Fishery Protection operations.

CATISTOCK has a crew of 5 complement Officers, 2 Officers Under Training, 9 Senior Ratings, and 30 Junior Ratings.

The Kommandoren

The Kommandoren is an 1891 Danish built sailing cargo vessel.  She has been the symbol of Hays Ships for over 30 years and is a regular visitor to OI.

Anyone wishing to view the ship should contact Hays Ships at Stand I655.

Kommandoren

Predator

Predator   Sonardyne International (Stand No. G300/ H355) will be demonstrating a range of acoustic and inertial navigation based solutions from onboard Predator. The vessel is a 10 metre commercial catamaran with large deck area, spacious accommodation and proven track record in the marine industry.

Please visit the Sonardyne stand to pick up a copy of Predator’s daily schedule of demonstrations and to book your place onboard.

To visit the vessel, call at Stand No. G300/ H355

Remote Sensor

Remote Sensor    The 8m catamaran survey vessel – Aspect Surveys’ Remote Sensor - will be used to demonstrate the R2Sonic 2024 Wideband Multibeam Echosounder. This is the first high resolution Wideband Multibeam and can be used from survey vessels, ROV’s and AUV’s. It’s compact size, light weight and low power consumption make it ideal for small vessels, as demonstrated here.

The demonstrations, which will be run throughout the time of the exhibition from Tuesday to Thursday will run for approximately one hour, will be for up to 6 (including crew and demonstrator), and will include on-water surveying of the immediate area around the docks

To visit or have a demonstration call at Stand I150

Confidante

Confidante    The 28m length Confidante is a versatile platform from which to conduct shallow water hydrographic, geophysical and environmental surveys in exposed work locations up to 20 miles from the coast, and depths from 5m - 50m.  The vessel is unusual in benefiting from shallow draft (2m) and recessed propellors/survey sensors, but featuring accommodation and laboratory areas for a survey team of up to 10 persons to operate 24 hour / day data acquisition, and processing to be undertaken onboard.

Hull mounted Kongsberg EM3002 dual head multi-beam bathymetry and USBL tracking systems are permanently installed for high resolution and precision survey results.
