Our Oceanographic Buoys Information Management System is a complete solution that gravitates around one buoy or a network of oceanographic buoys. They are equipped with a multitude of instruments and sensors enabling scientists, oceanographers, meteorologists, and other researchers to conduct various tasks and researches. The buoys are equipped with a fully configurable specialised control unit allowing, inter alia, scheduling the sampling time, the transmission time as well as areal-time check mode, of each instruments. The recovered data from the buoys are stored in an internal memory and then transferred to a land base. In doing so, two communication modes are privileged. The satellite technology allows the buoy to send the data to the land base, even when they are found off the coasts. The transmission occurs with the use of a satellite modem and an antenna of the same type. When the buoy is closer to the coasts, the UHF transmission is most suitable, because it is faster and less energy-consuming. The reception and data processing of the earth program allow the most recent information that was transmitted by the oceanographic buoys to be viewed. The design tools combine conviviality and security by saving all the precise information in a database. Thereafter, the Web diffusion program shares in graphs and tables on the Intranet or Internet the information collected from each the scientific sensors.

The APB5 is designed for monitoring water quality in coastal waters, fjords, lakes and fish farms.
The buoy contains a control unit, CU801B, an Embedded Web Server, a GSM/GPRS/EDGE or satellite (IMARSAT/Iridium) router, a winch, a short range radio for communication with sensor unit, solar cells and battery pack.
In fish farm application, the buoy is normally powered from an external supply. The control unit can be remotely programmed to desired profiling frequency and depth.
In between profiles, the sensor unit rests above the water inside the buoy. This eliminates
biofouling on the sensors. Since the sensor unit requires a wireless RS232 in/out feature, the CTD Multi-Parameter SD208 is perfect for this use.

The SD204 measures, calculates and records sea water conductivity, salinity, temperature, depth (pressure), sound velocity and water density. Three optional sensors can be added, f. example: dissolved oxygen, fluorescence and turbidity. For optional sensors with several sensitivity ranges, the SD204 has auto range capability. Data are recorded in physical units.
Robustness and complete protection from leakage is obtained by vacuum molding the electronic and all other components in solid polyurethane. On/Off-switching is by a magnetic key or from keyboard.
A sealed battery compartment contains two replaceable C-cells.
In practical operation the battery capacity is sufficient for continuous year-around operation with good margin.
The instrument is equipped with a mooring bar with a shackle at each end. Data are recorded in physical units and simultaneously transmitted via an RS232 I/O watertight connector for on-line use.
For remote readout and monitoring, the manufacturer offers several options:

The TD301R is a high precision instrument for recording/ monitoring of water level in the sea, lakes, water reservoirs, groundwater and in rivers etc. Also measurement of temperature is included.
The sensing element is a unique pressure sensor with built-in temperature compensation. A feature that maintane the high accuracy (0.01%) over a broad temperature range (-2 – 40 deg C).
Atmospheric pressure is directly compensated for by an air pipe inside the cable. The air pipe is vented through a Goretex filter on the On-Land-Unit. Data are recorded and/or transmitted in physical units via an RS-232 I/O watertight connector. The sensor is Plug and Play compatible with PC’s. All settings like measuring interval, integration time, chart datum etc, are accessed via menu. The TD301R has a built-in replaceable battery for self- contained recording applications.

Both units have a built-in data memory “ring memory” where the oldest data will be overwritten when memory is full.

The new digital underwater video camera for various monitoring applications provides Full HD resolution with 25 frames per seconds in H 264 format. With MJPEG a maximal resolution of 4 megapixel is possible. The integrated zoom lens comes with 10 x optical zoom and autofocus.

LOKI is a new approach to overcome the limitations set by conventional net sampling of zooplankton by the use of a digital camera sensor.
The LED-illuminated detection head provides images, which enable identification to the genus level with high spatio-temporal resolution.
Image acquisition and operation are performed online by using a Gigabit ethernet camera (shutter times down to 20µs; 15..30fps @ 1.4/4.0 MPix resolution).
Areas of Interest (AOI) are extracted in real time from the image frame and stored in the SQL database together with customized environmental parameters (e.g. CTD, fluorescence, O2), associated by a timestamp.
The processing software frontend allows easy visualization of imaged objects, extracted picture properties and environmental parameters.
LOKI is suitable for a wide range of applications. Different versions for vertical profiling, and moored operation are available. In addition, a towed version and a new laboratory device, using the same technology and software will be available soon. |

The sediment trap iSiTRAP 3x12/100 is designed specially for deployment close to the bottom in shallow water e.g. coastal regions.
It features a very compact design and light weight. This allows an easy handling, even by divers.
The sampling plate can be replaced independently and easily, also while the trap is located at the sea floor.
The device offers 36 sampling containers, whereat 3 samples are taken in parallel. Various sample intervals can be used with a total operation time up to 1 year.
The funnel size can vary up to a diameter of 250 mm, depending on the respective application.
Parameter setup is done easily via any terminal program, like Windows® hyper terminal.

Through consultation with various Clients on their requirements, P&O Maritime developed a multi-purpose vessel design tailored to both the construction and O&M phases of offshore wind projects. Initially three 17.5m vessels have been constructed with three more planned for 2012. P&O are in consultation on the design of larger crew transfer vessels up to 25m for the European market as installations move into deeper waters. |

To achieve these results, a pressure transducer is installed on the diver umbilical, at the chest level, which measures the exact deepness of the diver (no Pneumofathometer depth correction factor compensation needed). A software application was written to measure time and interpolates the real time data with the most common Air Diving Decompression Tables (USNavy, NORMAN15, NDTT and MNFR90) |
