Title Dam Inspection System Description Sidus Solutions has recently developed an innovative, underwater video camera system for a federal government agency in the Pacific Northwest. The system features a high resolution, color zoom camera and a high output LED light, both remotely positioned by a pressure-balanced, pan and tilt device. The underwater portion of the system is attached to a large steel frame that can be precisely placed by a winch or crane against vertical concrete surfaces to inspect for structural joints and cracks. An integrated pressure sensor provides precise, real-time depth position feedback via a LCD display located on the topside control interface. Elevation information was crucial for the customer’s application as the cranes were well above the seasonably variable waterline. In this application the system closely observes dye released near cracks and joints to determine leakage rates through the concrete. Cracks and joints with higher leakage rates get an epoxy grout injection to reduce or stop the leak.

Title Seafloor Observer System Description Sidus Solutions has developed the innovative Seafloor Observer system, featuring remote positioning, lighting, video and still photography through a single Ethernet cable at depths up to 3,000 meters. The system consists of an 8-megapixel camera, 200 W/s strobe, low-light video camera, two dimmable 3000 lumen LED flood lights and six 3000 lumen LED spot lights. Red lasers allow for image scaling and distance measurement. Pan-and-tilt is provided by the company’s SS252 robotic positioning device; this delivers an impressive 65 ft-lbs of torque on each axis at speeds up to 40 degrees/sec. The system is manufactured out of corrosion resistant titanium, beryllium copper and fiber glass.

Title SS109HT Pan & Tilt Description Sidus Solutions' SS109HT underwater pan and tilt assembly is a high performance robotic positioning device that improves the versatility and reliability of video inspection systems. The dependability and ease of maintenance of this robust pan and tilt are achieved through the integration of high output stepper motors, low backlash harmonic drives and precision ball bearings into an unique modular motor assembly. These unitized motor modules develop a hefty 14 foot pounds of torque and speeds up to 20 degrees per second. The distinctive modular design, found only in the SS109HT assembly, simplifies field repair to using only small hand tools. No soldering is required and can be customer serviced if necessary. Modifications can be made to include feedback circuits and limit switches for applications where position information is vital.

Title SS446 High Definition Camera Description Sidus Solutions has developed the new SS446 High Definition Camera system, featuring stunning 1080i/720p video over coaxial cable. Remote functions such as zoom and focus are controllable via RS-485 or optionally through single mode fiber. The SS446 is compatible with the existing Sidus graphical user interface (GUI) software. A significant design challenge was packaging the camera components into relatively small housing. Measuring 3.4 inches in diameter and 7 inches long the SS446 is most compact HD, 10X zoom camera on the market today. Additionally the SS446 has a built in thermal control system that regulates internal temperatures for operation in extreme cold environments. “High definition video over coax along with network based systems is the future of our underwater camera business”, said Marc New, Chief Engineer at Sidus. Optional features include 1080p resolution, built-in fiber optic communication, HD recording, a wide angle adapter and an optically corrected port.
