FIELAX Heat Flow Probe

Description

The Heat Flow Probe is an instrument for the measurement of the thermal gradient and the thermal conductivity. With both parameters the heat flux density can be determined. The instrument is capable to measure in-situ values with 22 sensors down to a depth of 6 m below the seafloor. Besides the temperature sensor string, an extra heating wire is attached to the probe. That wire provides a heat pulse for the measurement of thermal conductivity. In summary the temperature gradient is measured along 22 points with a resolution of 0.001 K and in addition 22 in-situ values of thermal conductivity, and hence, the heat flux density is determined in one go.

FIELAX VibroHeat

Description

On initiative of FUGRO-OSAE and FUGRO-Consult Greifswald, FIELAX has adapted their well-established Heat Flow measuring System to a type VKG6 Vibrocorer.
The combined system allows retreiving sediment cores of up to 5,5m length and measure in-situ thermal gradients and thermal conductivities in ONE GO.

FIELAX operates marine and inshore ROV surveys by using the own ROV Seaeye Falcon. Our highly qualified engineers and scientists benefit from long-standing and appropriate experience in the maintenance and deployment of ROV systems. The FIELAX ROV of type "Seaeye Falcon" is an observation class ROV system with a maximum operating depth of 300 m. It is a powerful and versatile ROV which has capabilities for the use of tools and other accessory interfaces. Due to the small size and the easy setup the Falcon is mainly used for visual observation, inspection and environmental monitoring, at sea and inshore/in ports.
