Nigeria splashes €10m on research vessel in bid to unlock ocean potential

The Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research has acquired a €10.1 million research vessel to help boost local fish supply and aim for fish self-sufficiency in the near future, reports Undercurrent News. The purchase of the €10.1m deep vessel by president Goodluck Jonathan became imperative in view of the need to properly monitor and manage the diversity of the country’s resources, said minister of agriculture and rural development Akinwunmi Adesina.
